Writing in Room Five
This week we have been putting ourselves in the Olympic Athlete's shoes. We have been thinking about how we would feel standing on the podium receiving a medal. Our focus has been on producing rich, quality writing as opposed to big quantities. Room Five students having been using their senses to help describe their thoughts.

Ella's Pod Cast
I put together this podcast at Enrich yesterday. We learnt heaps of new skills on Garage Band, including how to put in sound effects, music and recording our voices. Today once I was back at school, Mrs Asplin suggested we use it to make a small movie using a green screen technique. We filmed a few short videos in front of the IWB with our green sheet off the couch as our "green screen" background. We then found some Olympic photos off the internet and combined the podcast, green screen videos and photos to make a basic movie of my Olympic Torch poem. It was great going to Enrich and learning lots of skills that we can use in the future.

Tara's Olympic Torch
The
torch
The
torch warms
my
face as I  hold it.
Everyone
stares
at
me
at
me while I run. I
Run.
I am nervous as
 I hold
the
torch high
in
the air I
am
so proud I cant
Move
I’m so exited
I
can see lots of
 fireworks that
brighten
up the sky.
I
love  the Olympics
Jamie's Olympic Poem
Olympic
2012
The most
amazing
Time for
me.
Cameras
flashing.
Eyes on
me.
I’m
running
With the
Olympic
Torch
I don’t
Want to
trip
Over
on the
Track.
Nervousness
Flowing
Through my
Body.
Billions
Of people
Watching
me.
Cheering,
yelling,
Clapping
and whistling.
Just for
me.
I want to
do my best.
Start the
Olympics!

Charlotte's Olympic Flame Poem
The torch
shines
Brightly
down at the ground
 The crowd goes wild.
Whistling,
Clapping,
Yelling
Yelling
 And cheering.
The breeze
Is slowly
Pushing my
hair.
Lights
shining,
 Brightly at my face.
What if I
trip?
I can’t
Feel my
feet.
I have to
Do this
right.
I hope I
get
Picked
next time.
Brooklyn's Olympic Poem
Olympic
2012
The
most amazing
Thing
of my
life
was carrying
the
Olympic Torch.
The
Queen was
staring
I was
running
with the
torch.
People
were
clapping and
yelling.
Thousands
of
people.
Watching
me as
I
flow across
The
track, with
The
Olympic
torch.
What amazing
day.
Ruby's Olympic Poem
I’m
running as
fast
as I
can
with the
 flames flowing
 behind me, the crowd
 cheering loud
in
a incredibly loud
 mode sound,
 my feet slapping
 the hard floor,
 people coming in
 and out the door.
 I’m hearing all of
the ruckus and my heart beating,
  I’m holding up
 the torch high in
 the sky.
I can see celebrities and the Queen.
I’m thinking about where I have been.
 I am feeling so
 nervous and thinking
 about what do I do?
I can see the gold shining off the torch.
This is a dream come true!
Reuben's Olympic Poem
I
felt the heavy metal in my hands
as I pranced. I feel the heat on my
 face. I spied on
the
world that represents
  the best
 of the best of athletes.
 I lit the Cauldron.
I
freaked out because
 millions of
 people were
 watching
 me live on
 television.
Hannah's Olympic Torch Poem
I can feel
The cool
Metal on
my hands.
As I run I
can
Hear the
breeze
Flowing
around my face.
The track
under
My feet
And the
lights streaming
Into my
deep
Blue eyes.
I can see
thousands
Of people
cheering for
Me.
I can hear
the pounding footsteps
Beside me.
I can’t
believe that I
Did it.
Stag Visit
The Stags Visit
The Stags streamed in the door and Stevo the
Stag (their mascot) pretended to play the piano on the way in! Everyone cheered
and shouted for them and were enjoying themselves. It was great to get to ask
them questions. Elliot, Hoani, Aston and Stevo gave us some great knowledge and
things to think about. They all were really funny, especially Stevo when he ‘shuffled’.
Some of us got their signatures and we all got a memorable photo.

Go Rhino Go!
On Friday last week when we were finished our work, we decided to make posters for New Zealand Track Cyclist Simon van Velthooven. We wanted to wish him luck for the Keirin event that he was racing in last night. Simon liked our posters so much that he retweeted one of the pictures we sent via Twitter to all his followers! He now follows Room Five on our Twitter page.
Jack's Narrative
The Magic Potion
By Jack
Once upon time there was a gruesome witch with a
purple hat and an ugly wart on the end of her pointy nose.
She was an evil witch who tried to make the most
evil potion ever! The gruesome witch made her first potion she slurped it and
poof! She turned into a pink spotted, fluffy rabbit.
Her second attempt she turned into a scaly rainbow
snake!
She kept trying and trying, until she made one that
made people evil. The witch went on her evil stroll through the park ruining
people’s day.
While she was gone a ninja came and swapped the
evil potion with a happiness potion.
When the witch got home she put the potion in
bottles. The witch delivered the potion to every one in town.
The witch went outside and wondered why everyone
was so happy. Suddenly she realized what had happened and yelled “no!!!” The
witch tried the potion and poof! She was happy forever after.
Poppy's Narrative
THE PIE EATERS
By Poppy
Once upon a time
there was a beautiful little girl with her favourite pink and blue top and
black skirt. The girl was called Jacky and she had a twin sister called Corbina
they both sparkled like a star sparkling in the sky.
“La La La La La’’ they
sang happily. They both loved playing with their dolls.
Their Grandma  was old and wrinkly with gray hair and a pink
dress. She was called Reubina. She liked singing One Direction when she made
her pies.
One day she made a
strawberry pie for the party that she was going to. She put the cake on the
table to let it cool down. Jacky and Corbina
came into the kitchen and snuck the strawberry pie until there was none
left. Reubina  came in and screamed  “AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH my pie is gone and I’ll
have to make another one!” This time I’ll make a poisonous one so they cant
stop dancing. So Reubina made a poisonous pie and left it to cool down.
Then Corbina and
Jacky came in and ate the pie and suddenly started dancing nonstop.
Reubina came in
and danced around, yelling “I caught the thieves! I caught the thieves, I caught
the thieves!”
Ruebina ordered “Since
you ate all the pies you will do the dishes now. While I go to the party.
“Not fair!”
Corbina and Jacky cried still dancing.
“It is fair.” said
Ruebina. “See you later Corbina and Jacky.” said Ruebina as she walked out the
door with her pie carefully balanced on her hand.  From that day on Jacky and Corbina never
stole a pie again. They had learnt their lesson.

Once Upon A Sandy beach in Noosa, Kate the
Hula girl and Daniel the Hula boy were relaxing in hot spa “This is really
relaxing” said Kate
“I cant wait until our wedding” Daniel
shouted like a screaming kid to the men at the special Wedding Resort.
SUDDENLY!!!! Evil Canevil Crab shows up. “
Uh oh”said Daniel and Kate.
Poof! Bang! Evil Canevil Crab, slid under a
rock. “You wont find me now’’ he cackled. Evil Canevil Crab snuck into the
Wedding Resort and said“ I am going to ruin Kate and Daniels wedding costumes”
so straight away that is exactly what he did.
Evil Canevil Crab was in Kate and Daniels
room and………… KABOOM! Suddenly Kate and Daniel found themselves with completely
different, handsome and beautiful costumes to wear. Now this was unexpected.
Kate performed a magic spell and turned Evil
Canevil Crab friendly.
“Kate you are so beautiful and Daniel so
handsome” said Evil Canevil Crab.
“Will you be our pet crab Evil Canevil
please?” said Kate.
“Yes I will.” said Evil Canevil Crab.
“Her name is now Ellie!” bellowed Daniel.
Kate and Daniel got married and lived happily
ever after with their pet crab.

Jorja's Olympic Torch Flame
Olympic
2012
The
most amazing
Experience
was to
Carry
the Olympic
Torch.
It
was smooth
Like
silk and burning
hot
in the night sky
I
was so nervous.
I
didn’t want to
Drop
the torch
I
had tears of joy
Rolling
down my cheek.
All
the Royals were there,
Staring
at me as I ran down
The
track.
What
a Day.
