Pike River Mine Disaster

29 miners are trapped inside the Pike River mine none of the miners can get out. Here are some of our well wishes and thoughts. Room Five is thinking positive thoughts that everything will be ok.

I feel really sorry that the families have lost some of the miners that are trapped down in the mine, I hope you will get them out alive. I hope you will get all of the 29 miners out. Its really cool that two miners walked out, but it is sad that 29 are still in there. Best wishes, Alex, Room 5 Makarewa school.

I really feel sorry for those loved ones trapped in the coal mine. I think those still trapped in the mine are still alive . I know you hope when they get out of the mine they will still be alive and healthy Here at Makarewa School we are also hoping they come out alive . From Summer at Makarewa School Room 5

I am very sad. I hope the rescue team can save them I am very happy for the 2 people that but we still need the other 27 people to escape. By Anna O`Connor Room 5 Makarewa School.

There is always hope for the best. I'm absolutely positive that no families will be upset. After 5 days 29 people are going to dig them out and as I said I hope for the best. By Hannah Dawson Rm 5 Makarewa School.

Pet Day

Makarewa School had an excellent Pet Day on Friday 29th October 2010. Most of Room 5 bought our pets along for the afternoon. We all enjoyed making arts and crafts in the morning.

We want to say a big thanks to Mrs Cowan who organised the whole day.

Alex's mum was kind enough to email some photos of Fantastic Room Fiver's having fun with their pets. We made the pictures into a movie for you to enjoy.
