Ariane Rocket Launch

The Ariane 5 will be launched from Kourou in French Guiana at 5.34pm tonight (all going well). If you would like to watch the live feed click on this link and it will take you to the website http://www.arianespace.tv/

Depending on the weather you maybe able to see the space craft during their second pass, low over the southern horizon starting at 8:09pm for up to eight minutes.

Our New Dictionaries

On Thursday the Year Fours got their own dictionary! There were six people to hand them out and they were from the Rotary Club at Invercargill North. One of the ladies had a few words to say, when she finished talking we went up to get our dictionary. Then when everyone had a dictionary we all stood up and said “thank you”. My new dictionary is great, it has lots of cool pictures to go with the words.

Making our Korowai

Making our Korowai (Maori cloak)

Firstly, when making our korowai, we had to translate words that are important to our culture, into other languages. We used Babelfish and English to Samoan dictionaries. Then we wrote our translated word onto 1 metre strips of wallpaper using stencils and Vivid. Next we dyed our wallpaper brown and red. We drew important symbols that represent New Zealand and weaved the Korowai together.

Jack and Corbyn F stuck on quail feathers around the outside as a border. We each made and dyed paper feathers with our names on them and glued them on top of the Korowai. Mr Silcock came into Room 5 and said the korowai would sell for $1000 dollars!

Synopsis: George and Harold bought a 3d hypno ring and hypnotized their principal and whenever someone snapped their fingers he turns into Captain Underpants, then when someone pours water on his head he turns back to normal. Then toilets attack and the principal has to save the school.
